Can someone explain if it is possible to place a shortcut on my object dock that will permit me to connect to the net without haveing to go to Start menu and then click on 'connect to' and then my modem shortcut? TIA

Open start menu, connect to, show all connections, right click on modem shortcut, create shortcut, should say cannot create shortcut here, asks if want on desktop, yes. Once on desktop you can drag it onto dock.

actually, as well, if you have several connexion (as i do), you can do the following on xp:
> add entry
> new shortcut
then in the link part, select network connexions.
voilà! you created a link to your connexion folder!
