I've begun to try out Linux, and was wondering how many of you out there are using it, do you like it, how are you using it? As a dual boot, primary OS or just occasionally? I'd love to cross over from Micro$oft, but two things keep me tied to the Evil Empire, first and foremost is Stardock and all the goodies that they have and second are the games that I have purchased for my son to play. If not for those two things I'd make the jump in a hot second.

I've been using Slackware Linux for many years. Yeah, I like it. It's my primary OS but I am still forced to use Windows once in a while for a single piece of software I need for work that simply doesn't have a Linux equivalent. I use Linux for everything else.

I'm very partial to Fedora Core myself. The OS is stable and the people at fedoraforum are outstanding.

I have tried just about all the big boy distros out there.

I use Ubuntu a hell of a lot more often than I use Windows.

The only reasons I use my windows box anymore is for gaming and for my online classes at the Uni (for some reason, their stupid program is only IE compatible).

I used Ubuntu for over a year, then switched to Kubuntu, because I like KDE better.

ubuntu isn't bad. I used it on my laptop for a while before I got tired of it's slowness and switched it back to Slack. My desktop is all Slack.

I gave FC another try a couple of months ago on a spare partition and wasn't at all impressed. But that's the great thing about Linux, there are so many choices you can find something to suit you personally. All distros are good for someone.

I started with Kubuntu, and moved to Ubuntu, because I prefer the GNOME environment.

Oh, and I have a really old laptop running Xubuntu. So there you go.

Thus, the universe keeps its balance!

How ironic. I used Ubuntu on my old slow laptop.
